Malama Palama Gala to Honor the Rath and Gee Families

The 4th Annual Malama Palama Gala, Palama Settlement’s signature fundraising event, will be held on the evening of Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Sheraton Waikiki. This year Palama Settlement is celebrating 120 years of serving our community and funds raised from the gala will help support vital programs for our community’s children, families and seniors. The gala will honor two very distinguished families who have supported Palama throughout the generations – the Rath Family and the Gee Family.

With deep roots in the Kalihi-Palama community, the Raths founded and supported Palama Settlement throughout three generations. In 1905, social workers James and Ragna Rath moved to Hawaii with a vision for social change. Throughout the years, members of the Rath family have been deeply involved and engrained in the fabric of Palama Settlement. Second generation Bobby and Jacky Rath were tireless volunteers and generous donors. Paula Rath and sister Roberta Cullen are third-generation supporters. Paula serves on the Board of Trustees – Emeritus and Roberta is a longtime supporter and donor.

The Gee Family has strong ties to Palama Settlement. The late Bill Gee grew up in the Palama neighborhood, participated in Palama’s programs and later became an athletic director and winning basketball coach. Bill’s wife, the late Harriett Gee was also a generous donor. Daughters Linda Gee and Pat Gee have continued their support of Palama Settlement throughout the years. Linda was a former board member and Pat has helped keep Palama in the public eye.

The gala will be a night to remember. We hope you will join us for outstanding food and entertainment, a silent auction and dancing. Tickets are: $250 for individual seats or table sponsorships starting at $2,500. Proceeds from the gala will help support vital programs for keiki, families and seniors.
