808 Jr. Chef Challenge

The third annual 808 Junior Chef Showdown cooking competition will be held on Saturday, April 16 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Palama Settlement Dining Hall. Sponsored by AlohaCare, this year’s event features teens from five after school programs in the Kalihi area. Working in teams, the teens will have one hour to cook their healthy dish which will be judged on it’s nutritional value, taste, creativity, presentation and teamwork in preparing the dish.  These teens have been preparing for weeks leading up to this competition – learning about nutrition, practicing their cooking skills and researching and experimenting with different recipes.

The teams entering in this year’s competition are from After School All Stars, Kokua Kalihi Valley, PACT, Palama Settlement and the Kalihi YMCA Branch. A team from Palama Settlement won the first year, and last year, Kokua Kalihi Valley’s team won. Come and join us to see who will be this year’s the winner!
