Learn to Swim Classes
Palama Settlement’s certified swim instructors teach Learn to Swim classes for all ages. Each session consists of six 45 minute classes. There is a minimum of three registrants required for a class to open and a maximum of fifteen students per class time.
Private Lessons (1-on-1)
Swim Squad is open to proficient swimmers. New swimmers must participate in a try-out and meet the minimum requirements to join.
Swim freestyle for 25 yards nonstop, displaying fundamental skills (i.e., side-breathing, flutter kicks, and alternating arm strokes).
Swim backstroke for 15 yards nonstop, displaying fundamental skills (i.e., leaning head back, keeping hips up, flutter kicks, and alternating arm strokes).
Swim breastroke for 15 yards nonstop, displaying fundamental skills (i.e., “frog” kick motion, gliding, and simultaneous arm strokes).
Youth Membership Program
All swim participants must become a member of Palama Settlement’s youth program. Members enjoy free activities including participation in the Leland Blackfield Youth Activity Center, the Henry & Colene Wong Computer Center, the Cecilia Blackfield Academic Center, the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Gymnasium, and the pool.
To join is easy and free, just complete the membership form. Youth who have already submitted a registration form for any Palama Settlement program are already members (this includes: Pakolea Program, Swim Academy, and other youth activities and programs).
