Become a Tutor

Thank you for expressing interest in volunteering as a tutor at Palama Settlement. Your dedication to helping others and making a positive impact on our community is greatly appreciated. Below, you will find important information regarding the tutoring program.

Program Overview:

• Palama Settlement is dedicated to providing resources for our community. This includes educational support and assistance to students in need.
• The Learning Hub aims to empower students by offering personalized academic guidance.
• Volunteer tutors play a vital role in helping students excel academically and achieve their full potential.

Requirements for Volunteer Tutors:

• Strong academic background and proficiency in the subject(s) you wish to tutor.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and creating a positive learning environment.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Availability to volunteer during our drop in hours:
  • Monday/Tuesday/Thursday: 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 1:30 pm – 6:00 pm

Tutoring Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students based on their needs and subject preferences.
• Assist with homework assignments and exam preparation.
• Create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
• Track and monitor student progress.
• Provide constructive feedback and guidance.
